Booklet 'The Taboo of the Free-Roaming Cat' is now available

The booklet 'The Taboo of the Loose Cat' is now available. Order a hard copy or read it online.

The practice of letting cats roam free is harmful to both humans and animals, yet it is difficult to open up the topic.

A characteristic of a taboo is that no one wants to talk about it because negative emotions such as anger and even personal threats quickly come into play. A taboo makes arguments and even facts impossible to discuss.

In the booklet 'The Taboo of the Free-Roaming Cat', we list the facts. This is an initiative by Drs. Jan Hooimeijer, veterinarian at the Advisory Practice for Birds, for which contributions were requested from the following experts to provide education/information regarding this issue:

  • Prof. Dr. A. Trouwborst as Professor of International Nature Conservation Law
  • Prof. Dr. Ir. C. Smit as Professor of Ecology and Nature Management
  • Mr. W. Reinhold on behalf of the platform Stop Invasive Exotic Species foundation
  • Mr. R. van Dijk on behalf of the Huiskat Thuiskat Foundation

The booklet is intended for anyone interested in this subject.
