During the AAV conference 2025 in Phoenix I gave 2 master classes, which I gave in response to Dr. Stephanie Lamb's request to contribute to the subject of prevention.
During the international conference of the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) in Kansas City (2024), Dr. Irene Pepperberg and me presented a masterclass. A masterclass in which Dr. Pepperberg discussed the need to respond to the intelligence and cognitive capabilities of parrots. I discussed the importance of preventing and solving behavioral and welfare problems by creating a relationship based on mutual respect and trust. It was emphatically emphasized that the concepts do not only apply to parrots but to animals in general and apply to children.
Afterwards I received a thank you on behalf of the AAV from the president of the AAV Dr. Stephanie Lamb. In the thank you note, Dr. Lamb hopes that there will be more attention to prevention during the 2025 congress. I have been asked to contribute to this. Dr. Lamb chaired the Organizing Committee for the AAV's 2025 conference in Phoenix.
The presentations I submitted were accepted and during the AAV international conference in Phoenix (2025) I presented two master classes;
- Preventing behavioral and welfare problems in parrots
- Preventing the most common causes of breathing problems in parrots.
Both presentations were recorded and the AAV has given me permission to share these presentations on my website. It is mainly intended to share this information internationally with veterinary students. This is part of the project to provide veterinary students with additional training on topics that are not part of veterinary training worldwide.
The presentations below discuss the prevention of behavioral and welfare problems in parrots and the prevention of the most common causes of respiratory problems in parrots.
This presentation is about preventing behavioral and welfare problems in parrots.
This presentation is about preventing the most common causes of respiratory problems in parrots.
